Jerry Gibson is President of the Hawaii Hotel Alliance and on several volunteer Boards in Hawaii. Most recently, he is working with the owner of Atrium Hotels on re-imaging the Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa after a $100 million dollar re-enhancement of the property. Recently, he also redeveloped the Turtle Bay Resort, one of Hawaii’s most iconic hotels over the last few years for Blackstone. He has 44 years of hospitality experience in Hawai‘i, and lends his time, talent and expertise to a dozen industry and community boards, including Vice Chair of the Honolulu Police Commission. Gibson is well known as an advocate and spokesman for the tourism industry, and most recently holds the position as the President of the Hawaii Hotel Alliance. Gibson’s hospitality experience spans the Continental United States, offshore, and also includes positions in Europe. He has served in leadership roles in operations and food & beverage with leading brands such as Hyatt and Marriott, in addition to his tenure with Hilton. He was based at Hilton Hawaiian Village, in charge of 23 hotels and 12 timeshare projects. Since returning to Hawai‘i in 2008, Gibson has served on boards for the Mayor’s Advisory Council on Tourism, Hawai‘i Lodging & Tourism Association where he was elected president, the Hawai‘i Hotel Owners Roundtable, the Hawai‘i Visitors & Convention Bureau as president, Honolulu Festival Foundation, UH Hotel School Advisory Board, Japanese-American Society of Hawai‘i, Waikiki Improvement Association, Waikiki Beach Special Improvement District Association, American Red Cross of Hawai‘i and Hawai‘i Chamber of Commerce. Gibson has also been integral in fundraising for Kokua for the Haiti, Philippines and Kokua for Japan campaigns, raising over four million dollars for natural disasters in these countries. Gibson, in conjunction with the Institute for Human Services, has also raised two million dollars to help with Oahu’s homeless population.
